Nelson Mandela teenage years

Nelson Mandela completed his Junior Certificate at Clarkebury Boarding Institute. He went to Healdtown, a secondary school where he matriculated. He attended the University College of Fort Hare where he began his studies for a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He did not finish his studies due to joining a student protest.

 

Nelson Mandela boxing and sports

Nelson Mandela began boxing when he was in school and never stopped. Nelson Mandela said, “…did not enjoy the violence of boxing so much as the science of it.” He carried on with boxing till he graduated at University. He never came across the thought of becoming a professional boxer.

Nelson Mandela child hood years

 

Rolihlahla Mandela was born on the 18 of July 1918. He was born into the Madiba clan in Mvezo. Rolihlahla’s father died when he was young. Rolihlahla attended primary school in Qunu. His teacher Miss Mdingane had given him the name Nelson because he had to have a name that was Christian and that his teacher could pronounce.

 

Nelson Mandela prison years

 

Nelson Mandela was arrested on the 7 of May 1963. He was arrested for leaving South Africa and suggesting that workers should strike. He was sentenced for five years. He served hiss five years in Pretoria Local Prison. May 1963 they transferred him to Robben Island and were returned to Pretoria on the 12 of July.
